Guildford town centre is the commercial and historic heart of Guildford, Surrey, built around the cobbled, hilltop High Street, Guildford Castle, and the River Wey. Guildford railway station gives direct rail links into London Waterloo.

## Shopping in Guildford Town Centre

The Friary (North Street, GU1 4YT) is Guildford's main indoor shopping centre, connected to the Bedford Road multi-storey car park by a pedestrian link bridge. The cobbled High Street, one of the best-known historic shopping streets in Surrey, runs alongside it with independent shops, chains, restaurants and cafes.

## Eating and Drinking in Guildford Town Centre

The High Street and surrounding streets have a wide range of dining, from independents such as Cambio Marcia on Swan Lane to chains including Bill's and Côte. Pubs and bars are concentrated around the High Street and castle area.

## Things To Do in Guildford Town Centre

Guildford Castle, on Castle Street, has Norman origins — the castle grounds are free to enter and open from 8am to dusk year-round, with the Castle Keep open Wednesday to Saturday, 12noon to 4:30pm. The River Wey runs through the town centre below the High Street.

## Getting To Guildford Town Centre

Guildford railway station has direct services to London Waterloo. The Friary shopping centre connects to Bedford Road multi-storey car park; further parking serves the High Street and castle area.
