The River Wey and Wey Navigation through Guildford — a historic waterway for boating, walking and cycling.
The River Wey runs through Guildford town centre, with the Wey Navigation — a historic canalised stretch of the river — continuing south through Stoke and beyond, managed by the National Trust as a leisure waterway.
## The Wey Navigation
The Wey Navigation was one of the earliest British rivers made commercially navigable, and today is used for boating, walking, and cycling along its towpath. It connects Guildford to the wider Surrey countryside and eventually to the Thames.
## Getting To the River Wey
The river runs directly below Guildford High Street and past Guildford railway station, making it easily reachable on foot from the town centre.
