Guildford.co Editorial15 July 2026
The River Wey runs directly through Guildford town centre, below the High Street, and is one of the town's defining features.
The Wey Navigation
South of the town centre, the river becomes the Wey Navigation — one of the earliest British rivers made commercially navigable — now used for leisure boating, with a towpath for walking and cycling that continues out through Stoke and the wider Surrey countryside.
Getting There
The river is a short walk from Guildford High Street and Guildford railway station, running right through the centre of town.
