It is click and collect only at the moment
The library closed on Thursday 20 August 2026 for improvement works. It reopened on Monday 21 September with a click and collect service only, while the work carries on. Surrey County Council says it expects the library to be fully reopened by the end of October.
Until then you can:
- collect reservations you have placed through the normal reservations service (the usual reservation charge applies)
- use Ready Reads, a free service where library staff choose books for you based on your reading preferences
- return items
You cannot use the public computers, photocopying, bus pass services or other library services until it fully reopens. Events are not running in the building either.
The county says all loans have been extended to Monday 10 November, so no fines build up during the works.

The library is on four floors with a wheelchair-accessible lift, automatic doors and a hearing loop. Listed facilities include computers, free Wi-Fi, a book drop, dual language books, DVDs and help with applying for a free bus pass. There is also a Library of Things, run with Active Surrey and Zero Carbon Guildford, which lends sports and exercise kit for free.
There are two disabled parking spaces outside the front. Otherwise use the town centre car parks.
